The issues with Dragon and Vindicator have to do with the Mech itself; for all the other cases mentioned, they've to do with equipment - we know there will be a number of variants of each equipment item, and I do expect that it won't be as clear the Large Laser from X is better than Large Laser from Y (think, Team Fortress 2's weapons balance - non-default ones come with both advantages and disadvantages).
Low-grade components would come with deficiencies but be more common than their non-faulty versions and have lower point value.
Would this be so bad? Don't think so, it would just require us to tailor the customization to play to the mech's strengths until the faulty weapon can be replaced.

It's adding a bit more realism to the game, but the question is always the same: does it add enough for everyone to make it worth the devs time?
